In this guide, we will detail a long weekend golf getaway/road trip—which hopefully minimizes stress & maximizes golf—traversing the fabled fairways of Torrey Pines and along the seaside cliffs of Newport's Pelican Hill Golf Club.
Day one - Arrival
Day 1 overview:
- Arrive - San Diego Int. Airport (SAN)
- Rental Check-out
- Travel: SAN -> Balboa, CA -> La Jolla, CA
- PM Round - Balboa Park Executive Course.
- Check-in: The Lodge at Torrey Pines
Welcome to San Diego
Flying into San Diego International Airport— we start off with loading the clubs into a rental and making a short drive from the airport to Balboa Park's Executive Par-3 course for a quick & fun 9 before eventually continuing on towards Torrey Pines.
Drive Σ: San Diego Int. Airport (SAN) -> Balboa Park GC -> The Lodge at Torrey Pines.

Depart Newport, CA-> LAX. ~50 minute drive
LAX - Departure
Return rental. Shuttle to LAX & check-in to fly home.
